Who we are

The Department of Veterinary Medicine of Sassari has ancient origins.

It has always been linked to local traditions characterized by breeding with a prevalence of sheep but also cattle, pigs and horses.

It was founded in 1928 as the Royal Higher Institute of Veterinary Medicine, the first Degree Diplomas were issued in 1932. Initially the faculty was located in the city center, but from 1972, the construction of the current headquarters began, completed in 1982 with the construction of the last forms

Today the Department of Veterinary Medicine of Sassari is located in a large green space, equipped with outdoor study stations, and is served by public transport as well as being just a few minutes from the city center.

Overall, the headquarters is divided into 5 intercommunicating modules, for a total of about 9,500 square meters of surface where we find:

the didactic classrooms and research facilities, spaces for students, equipped didactic laboratories, dissection classroom, sector classroom, microscope classroom, computer room, a mini-dairy and a mini-salami factory.
